What's up you guys?? I'm back after my week off, which was no break let me tell you...

Besides doing all my childcare duties, I spent most of my time listening to the Letecia Stauch trial. Which I will touch on below!

What else is knew? Adnan was denied his request to reconsider reinstating his murder charge.

Also, something I have been barley paying attention to; there are a lot of people on twitter who seem to be saying that Bryan Kohberger didn't do it. Are they just crazies? What do we know? I thought things were looking solid against him?

Hope everyone is kickin' it and getting ready for SUMMER!

Thomas Randolph

This week we have the first of two parts on Thomas Randolph, the Joe Exotic of true crime. Joe has six ex wives, and four of them are dead. This case has gone on for decades and is still yet to be fully resolved. It was pushed into the media by Dateline, after they released a 3 part series called the Widower. It's a crazy story with all your classic dateline features. But at the end of the day, my hope is that the families of the victims get the justice that they deserve.

You can watch or listen to this episode on Apple, Spotify or Youtube.

And maybe subscribe to us on youtube, if you want :)

What I'm watching/listening to

I started watching this show on Disney called The Patient. I'm pretty sure it's on Hulu as well for all you Americans. From the description, I didn't have high hopes for it, but it involved a serial killer, and my husband was too tired to argue with me about it and agreed to watch. I'm actually shocked at how good it is. Essentially what we have here is a serial killer who kidnaps a psychologist because he wants to help to stop killing people. But he's the worst patient. The acting and writing is very good and the characters are real, well thought out people. It's dark but also quite funny, which is probably my favourite  type of show. And Steve Carell is my favourite comedic actor of all time.

I don't want to give too much away, but I'd love to hear from you if you've seen it. I'm not done yet though, so please don't ruin the end!

So yes. Highly recommend.

Letecia Stauch trial updates

This trial keeps getting crazier and crazier. It is the biggest waste of time I have ever seen, but I cannot look away.

This week we got to hear testimony from the prosecution's forensic psychologist experts, of which there were three. They all seemed pretty reasonable. They talked about the evaluations they did on Letecia. They pretty much all agreed that she probably had borderline personality disorder with narcissistic traits. They all agreed that she was trying to act like she had dissociative identity disorder (DID) but they did not believe her lying ass. Any idiot off the street could see that.

Then the defence's expert witness got up on the stand. And this was Dr.Dorothy Lewis. As soon ask she started speaking I recognized her voice. Dr.Dorthy Lewis was the subject of the HBO documentary, Crazy, not Insane. That was a documentary that I recommended in this newsletter a while ago.

In that documentary, the filmmaker goes in-depth into Dorothy's life's work, which is research on dissociative identity disorder. Her claim is that DID is way more prevalent than most people believe, especially in serial killers.  DID is a very controversial subject within the field of psychology, and is often used by defendants in criminal cases, particularly homicide cases, to try and claim insanity, as it's one of the few disorders that the law recognizes as impairing one to the point of legal insanity. From the doc, I remember thinking, I have no idea as to the legitimacy of her findings, but she seemed pretty badass. She was going against the grain in her field, she sounded smart and she was doing really fascinating research. We love to see it.

Dr.Lewis' testimony in this trial, in my layperson's opinion, has undermined ALL of that. This was an absolute MESS from start to finish. I almost feel bad for Dr.Lewis, she's super old and frail now, and I'm sure she was the only person in the world that the defence could get to agree to the absolute LIE that Letecia Stauch has dissociative identity disorder. But she's being paid $300 an hour for this bullshit so I'm sure she'll be fine.

Dr.Lewis's testimony was so evasive, so biased and so CLEARLY bought by the defence. Listening to her on the stand reminded me of listening to Jodie Arias take the stand her in own defence. Painful, cringey and EXTREMELY frustrating. I have to say, this is the type of performance that not only undermines Dr.Lewis, but potentially psychology itself. It's just to obviously ludicrous.

If you're interested in a bit more of a breakdown of Dr.Lewis's very stupid testimony, this video gives some pretty good context.  You can find the trial in it's entirety on youtube, it's not over!
