My Pod

This week I covered a very current case on the pod. And this one was especially messed up because both the victim the the perpetrator of this crime are teens. And like, baby teens. Tristyn Bailey was only 13 years old when she was BRUTALLY stabbed to death by 14 year old Aiden Fucci. This tragedy destroyed the Bailey family and shocked residents of the nice, well to do Florida suburb. Please watch my video to hear the details of this case, and keep an eye out for updates from me, as the whole thing has yet to be fully resolved. You can watch or listen to this episode on Apple, Spotify or Youtube. And maybe subscribe to us on youtube, if you want :)

Accident or attempted murder?

Many of you have probably seen this case graze your feeds in the last few weeks.  On January 2nd of this year, in Pasadena, California, Dharmesh Patel was driving with his wife, and two young children. That journey ended with their Tesla going over the edge of a cliff that was aptly called Devil's Slide. It's called that because since the 90s there have been at least 30 deaths at that site. It's a stretch of highway with no barrier and a cliff.

Maybe we should throw up a barrier? Have we thought of that? The family miraculously survived the crash, and when EMS arrived to airlift the Patel's to safety, Dharmesh's wife, Neha made a shocking claim. She said that her husband had done this on purpose and that he was trying to murder them. Since that little tidbit was reported, the internet has gone crazy and Dharmesh has been crucified and compared to Chris Watts. And let's be VERY clear. If it is the case that he tried to murder his entire family, then he is absolutely up there with CW. No question.

The thing is, I think people might need to hold their horses, just a little bit. According to witnesses, it did look like Dharmesh was driving too fast, and that he made a sharp turn off the cliff. However after looking at the Tesla's history, it did look like he was driving at the speed limit.

The weirdest part is that Neha is now asking that Dharmesh not be charged. This is super tough because I think a lot of people reasonably point out that many people who are victim's of domestic violence side with their abusers when it comes down to it, for a number of reasons.  And she did very clearly accuse him of attempted murder.

I just want to be CRYSTAL clear, that that is a possibility that I believe could be true. In fact, I think it is more likely that this was intentional than not. The police say that they have evidence to charge him, so hopefully that will come out at some point and then we, the public, can be sure.

HOWEVER. I think there also exists a possibility, that this was an accident. And I just don't think we can say for sure what happened, and we, the peanut gallery of the internet, should maybe let the authorities do their job to completion, before we decide that this man is a monster. Because if he's not, that would suck SO badly. And to me it's just not cut and dry, YET!

There is no history of any domestic violence between the couple. No one in their lives has come out yet to say there were any warning signs. Everyone who knew the family describe them as "Idyllic", Dharmesh is described as a lovely person who loved his family dearly and was also described that way by colleges at the hospital that he worked at.

There also have been many cases where people say weird things that they don't remember or aren't true after some sort of physical or traumatic event such as a car crash. So it's possible that that's what was happening with Neha when she accused him at the scene. There are absolutely monsters who are good at putting up a facade (Chris Watts hello!) and maybe Dharmesh is one of them. And if he is, I hope he rots in prison and receives the harshest punishment possible. I just want to make sure that we have the evidence to be sure of it. Am I crazy?

FACTS

I agree with Kendall. We need to wait for the facts.Read more on this here.
