Hey
I know this is a lot later than usual, I've really been overcommitting myself these days... But its still Friday!

This week's episode was another unsolved case. And most likely a serial killer. In Albuquerque, New Mexico a passer-by walking her dog stumbled upon what was later discovered to be a mass grave. 11 women were found, one of whom was 4 months pregnant at that time of her death. There are a few possible suspects, but to this day, the killer had yet to be identified. Hehas been named, The West Mesa Bone Collector. And yes, I did have to breastfeed my baby for a portion of the podcast, so sorry, but duty calls!BTW, next week will be my last episode before I take a two week Christmas vacation EXTRAVAGANZA! (hopefully you are too!) and it's going to be a bit different!Check out on Youtube, Apple or Spotify. And maybe subscribe to us on youtube, if you want :)
Books to read over the holidays!
So maybe you'll have some time to relax over the holidays, perhaps even read a book or two! I will be lucky if I get through one... Here is a list of books I would suggest:Under the Banner of Heaven by John KrakauerI read this book as research for my last episode. It is a super fascinating read that documents a double homicide committed by religious extremists and also gives a pretty extensive history of the Mormon religion. I have read this book twice now.Junk Science and the American Criminal Justice System by M.Chris FabricantI have suggested this book before, I really loved it. It makes the case that many the popular forensic sciences that are used in the criminal justice system today are much less reliable than we are led to believe. And worse, they have caused a number of wrongful convictions, some of which are mentioned in the book. As a huge forensic files fan, it was hard to read. But it's a great book.Satan's Silence by Debbie Nathan and Michael Snedker This book discusses the birth of the "satanic panic" that largely took place in the United States through the 80s and 90s. the authors walk through exactly how these ideas came into the public realm and how at various medical and political factors converged to create a huge social panic and destroyed a lot of people's lives. The Killer of Little Shepherds: a True Crime Story and the Birth of Forensic Science by Douglas StarrTo be honest, I have not finished this book, but I’m part way through and loving it. It’s essentially the history of the forensic sciences. Can you tell that I’m very interested in forensics? Mindhunter by John Douglas and Mark OlshakerI just really like John Douglas’s books and this is a great starter. Yes he talks about himself a lot. But there is no denying that this man knows his shit when it comes to killers. You gotta hand it to him. Mindhunter, like the show focuses on the birth of the behavioural analysis unit at the FBI. Lots of serial killer interviews and a big chapter on the Atlanta Child Murders.
What is going on in Toronto?
I live in Toronto. And there have been a series of freaky things going on here lately.First there was a guy who PURPOSELY jabbed at least one woman with a needle on a busy street. How freaky is that? She didn't even notice that it was a needle until another person who witnessed the incident said that the person who hit her clearly did it on purpose, and then she found the puncture wound on her back, because it was BURNING.
Then, there was an incident at a subway station, where a man, seemingly out of nowhere, just up and stabbed two people. And one of them died! It was so shocking. Completely senseless. I have so many questions about this man. His name is Neng Jia Jin and is 52 years old. He was a complete stranger to both victims. Vanessa Kurpiewska was only 31 years old, and her tragic death shocked the entire city. And now this guy was just arrested for randomly slashing homeless people's faces with a knife! WHY?I miss 2019. When all we had to worry about was Samuel Opoku, the guy who was out dumping buckets of poop on people. I wonder what happened to him...

What is one type of crime related activity that you will not consume content on? (ie. child murders, cannibalism etc)
I really hate stuff about child abuse... but honestly sometimes I can still read about these cases. It just really hurts my heart.
