Hey you guys! Hope everyone is feeling those spooky, fall, October vibes, I know I am. One thing I do hate about October, everything is pumpkin flavoured. Gross. Not a fan of pumpkin. But I will take all the scary movies, sweaters and halloween themed everything. And extra true crime content!
Speaking of! Check out our first lil knocker, discussing the infamous greyhound bus be-header. Exclusively on youtube :)

Hanna was back this week! And we discussed the brutal death of First Class Private LaVena Johnson. In my first issue of Grim Weekly, I included a youtube video by a channel called Dreading, discussing the case. I never figured I would cover the case, as really there are a lot of great videos on the subject. But I really wanted to dive into the evidence and i figured, the case in unsolved, so the more content the better.Check it out on Youtube, Apple or Spotify. and sign this change.org petition if you want to help get the case reopened. And maybe subscribe to us on youtube, if you want :)

Saul Kassin on Arm Chair Experts with Dax Shepherd:Super fascinating conversation with Saul discussing the psychology behind false or coerced confessions. When people admit confess to committing crimes that they didn't actually do, most people reasonably are skeptical. Why the hell would someone confess to a crime they didn't do? This seems like a very easy thing to avoid... Just say you didn't do it...But most people are not privy to exactly how a police interrogation works. Or what exactly their rights are. Always get a lawyer folks!Saul also has a book on the topic called Duped: Why Innocent People Confess - and Why We Believe their Confessions. Saul discusses what laws are in place that allow police to lie and coerce innocent people during interrogations, why innocent people are actually at greater risk of falling into some of law enforcement's sneaky little traps and why it seems that you get a lot of intentional false confessions during big cases (ie. JonBenet Ramsey). I really enjoyed this episode and it was a suggestion from a good friend of mine. Thanks Vee!
Guilty until proven innocent (JCS):On a similar topic, I'm sure many of you true crime nerds out there have seen this video before, but in case you have not, its worth a watch. Our boy Jimmy shows us two examples of innocent people being interrogated and accused of crimes they did not commit. As usual, his analysis and commentary is spot on a SO INTERESTING.
Scary stuff
Given that we are now knee deep into October, the best month of the year, I thought that I would share a list of my favourite horror films. The Ring: I just love this movie. I'm sure most of you know the story, super creepy video tape. If you watch it, you get a very creepy phone call, a girls voice says "7 days". And then you die in 7 days. The story is simple and so freaky and suspenseful, the visuals are eerie and it wraps up well at the end. Yes I have watched the original Japanese version, (HOT TAKE) I prefer the American one. It Follows: In this movie the main character is terrorized by a creepy figure that follows her after a sexual encounter with a boy who had himself been terrorized by this demon thing. This thing will only follow her until she has sex with someone else, then it will follow that person. World's creepiest STD. Although it has been described as a metaphor for many things, I think a more interesting take is that the film is a metaphor for the experience of a sexual assault survivor. But you tell me. The movie is very well done.Creep and Creep 2: The BEST found footage horror movies. Mark Duplass is SO GOOD in these movies and he also helped write them. In the first one, this filmmaker gets a request from a guy on the internet to film him for a day to make a video for his unborn son, because the man is dying. And then things get really weird, and fucked up. It's not gory or anything, but this movie is so clever. The second one is a continuation and it's just as good. Last one on Dahmer
I finished the series, and I bet a lot of you did too. I've been watching all the old trial footage on youtube, and it's all coming back to me now. I just thought I would include this video, it is the trial testimony of Officer John Balcerzak in regards to their interaction with Jeffrey Dahmer and Konerak Sinthasomphone. The series did portray this situation a lot differently than it actually occurred. But still crazy, and this is only one officer's account...Court TV has footage of the whole trial, if you're really interested.I also thought that this twitter thread was worth a read. It notes each one of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims and just says a little bit about them. Not super detailed (it is twitter) but it's always jarring to see all of them. Each one a son, each one a life lost far too soon.

- The asshole Parkland school shooter was sentenced today, and only received life in prison. People are pissed, they wanted him dead.***
*** I would be remiss if I did not include this video. Another JCS, this one featuring the Parkland shooter during his interrogation. SO INTERESTING.
