Hello again!

SO, feedback from last week, apparently not everyone thinks Adnan is innocent. News to me, but I hear you! I guess no one really knows.  This very old interview with Jay was brought to my attention. Anyway, I think I will end my coverage of Adnan for now. If anything new comes up we'll see, and please feel free to hit me up with any information you have. I am always interested!

Now, on with the show!

There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane:
This is a pretty old (2011) HBO documentary about a woman who, seemingly out of nowhere, began driving erratically and crashed into another car on the highway while her own son and daughter and three nieces were in the back. The crash killed everyone involved including Diane and the passengers of the other vehicle.  The event was so awful and tragic and her poor family was left trying to piece together what the hell happened.

I will say that this documentary does leave things kind of open ended, essentially there are two possibilities, Diane drank a bunch of liquor and got high before setting out with a car full of kids, or something else... and a bunch of people in this doc think it was something else.  To this day it is still not known what exactly happened, so don't expect this movie to tell you...

Ellen Greenberg

In issue 003, I included a news story about Ellen Greenberg's case being reopened. If you don't know about this case, here is a VERY brief rundown:Ellen was a first grade teacher living with her fiance Sam Goldberg in Philadelphia . One day Sam went to the gym, and when he returned to their apartment, he found it was locked via the latch lock from the inside. After approximately 30 minutes of texting and calling Ellen with no answer, he broke in the door and found her dead on the floor with over 20 stab wounds including stabs to the back of her neck. The investigation was shotty at best, and her death was ruled a suicide.  My little summary leaves out A LOT of information, but don't worry, I gotchu. I highly recommend you do some further listening, here are some good podcasts/vidoes:The Prosecutors Podcast - They've got a five part series on Ellen. I love their show, they are two prosecutors (duh) and have a great legal perspective, an eye for detail, and they's super cute.Stephanie Harlow - She did 2 parts, and as usual they were very thorough.Gavin Fish - Gavin has A LOT on Ellen, I've only just started listening to his videos, but he has pretty much everything one could have on the case, and he came recommended by the previous two shows.Kendal Rae - If you're not wanting a multipart deep ass dive, check out her one video on Ellen's case. Please let me know what you think happened to Ellen Greenberg. I have some thoughts....More on DahmerSo. There is a new Jeffrey Dahmer series out on Netflix, it's called Dahmer Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and it's created by Ryan Murphy. And, it seems to be kiiiiiind of killing it. Unlike the last Dahmer movie, which was shit.... (IMO)Well, it seems that for the most part, people are just LOVING this new series. Just can't get enough. Read about JUST how well the series is doing here. Honestly, when I first heard about it, I wasn't really excited. I had read and watched everything available on that man years ago, so it's not like any of it will be new information. BUT, not gonna lie, it looks really good, so chances are I absolutely will watch it.BUT BUT, Jeffrey Dahmer is NOT the interesting subject here. It seems that there has been A LOT of chatter online about this new series. In particular, some of the victims family members have been speaking out on twitter, saying that they were not consulted, or even given a heads up. They say that having yet another series come out about Jeffery and his crimes is adding to their trauma and they feel that it is exploitative of their pain. This article is a good explainer on that perspective.

If I'm being completely honest, I see where these people are coming from. If I were to put myself in their shoes, I have to think I would feel the same way. Especially after watching an interview like this, where Even Peters really emphasizes that one of their goals was to be respectful to victims, and tell the story from their point of view etc etc. How can you say something like that when you didn't even give these people a heads up? No shade to Even, I'm actually obsessed with him as a performer, and that wouldn't be his job...But then I think further. So, does that mean that any Jeffrey Dahmer production needs to be okay'd by the victims families? Just run by them? What if they don't want it to be produced? What about every other serial killer? Where is the line????Of course there are no laws about these things, all of the footage and information is public knowledge so it falls under fair use (right lawyers?). It's more of an ethical question. Of course Ryan Murphy didn't do anything legally wrong, but is it kind of icky?If you ask me, I would say... I don't know. I am interested in true crime because, well, It's interesting to me. I like to learn about the extremes of human psychology, human behaviour and the human condition. Serial killers in particular seem to be one extreme end of the human experience. I'm not sure how that can NOT be fascinating to someone. I also think learning about true crime is a good way to prepare yourself for potentially dangerous situations with dangerous people. But that's just me. Do I watch this kind of thing for entertainment? I guess the answer would have to be yes. And is that wrong? I don't know. Please tell me your thoughts on this. It seems like a pretty grey area, and I'm always interested to here from others. PS. here is some fascinating Dahmer footage:Stone Philips interviewJeffrey Dahmer's final statement at trialThis ADORABLE British journalists coverage of the trial. Very 90s vibes. *I won't link it, but I once stumbled upon photos of some of his murder victims after he had dismembered them. Absolutely horrendous... Jeffrey Dahmer seems way less narcissistic and psychopathic than a lot of these other guys, but what is did was VILE.*Just FYI Jeffery Dahmer's trial was not a trial in the convention sense. They were not determining whether he was guilty or not guilty, rather, they were trying to determine whether or not he was sane. The two options were living the rest of his life in a mental hospital or prison.
